Cite a California case in CSM format

A California case citation names the parties in an italicised title, then the year of decision in a parenthetical, then the official reporter volume, abbreviation, and first page — for example, People v. Anderson (1972) 6 Cal.3d 628. California trial-court memoranda must cite the official report volume and page regardless of citation style (CRC 3.1113(c)); the builder takes the reporter you enter and, where a verified lookup is available, substitutes the official California reporter. Court of Appeal citations carry a publication-status notice to check before filing (CRC 8.1115).

The CSM form

Governed by CSM §1:1, §1:14. Every field in the builder cites the section it follows.
